Following the first day of the young stars contest in Jūrmala New Wave 2010 which started July 27, Kazakhstani singer Kairat Tuntekov ranks the sixth together with Brazilian singer Gabriella. They got 91 scores. Today the contestants will perform national songs. As is known, Kairat Tuntekov wil sing Kazakh national song Naz konyr in modern arrangement. The final competition will take place August 1.

Representatives of political and business communities of Bulgaria took part in the event as well as famous artists and representatives of the corps. Exhibition of drawings by Kazakhstani schoolchildren "A World without Violence through the Eyes of a Child"was opened in Vienna in the OSCE headquarter. The exposition is held upon the results of the nationwide children's drawing competition that took place from January to March this year among pupils attending general education institutions, national schools, supplementary educational organizations and children's creative groups of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan. 6-14 year-old children took part in the competition held within the presidency of Kazakhstan in the OSCE. A collection of 30 children's works was selected for the exhibition.

The capital city of Kazakhstan is celebrating the Victory Day. The celebrations devoted to the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War will begin at 9 am by a civic procession starting from "Kazakh eli" monument square along Tauelsizdik Avenue to the monument of Fatherland Defenders. The celebration will be closed by grand firework on the bank of Esil River at 10 pm.

Today Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev will congratulate his compatriots on the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan. In 1996 the President signed a Decree on announcing May 1 the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan. Festive events, concerts, festivals and demonstrations dedicated to celebration of the holiday will be held in Astana and countrywide. They symbolize friendship and unity of the people of the country which became the Motherland for the representatives of more than 100 ethnic groups.

A bike ride devoted to celebration of the Day of Unity of people of Kazakhstan and propaganda of the VII Asian Games 2010 will be held in Almaty. Almaty Mayor Akhmetzhan Yesimov is expected to take part in the ride. The participants of the sport event will drive along one of the main highways of the city - Al-Farabi Avenue. The winners of the ride will be awarded prizes.

Representatives of Almaty Jewish community along with the Independence Day marked their traditional holiday - Hanukkah Feast of Lights. Chief Rabbi of Kazakhstan Yeshaya Kogen held the solemn ceremony. He noted that the concurrency of both holidays is symbolical. Jewish Hanukkah which is held since the first years of Kazakhstan's independence traditionally gathers representatives of different nations living in our country. The event was organized by the Jewish Center of Kazakhstan "Khabad Lyubavich".

On September 20 Almaty citizens celebrated the Day of the City. A festive concert dedicated to the holiday took place at the "Astana" square.
Akim of the city Akhmetzhan Yessimov congratulated all citizens and guests of Almaty. In his speech the Mayor pointed out dynamic development of the city, its importance in the national scale. "Almaty is a special city with its old history, natural landscapes, spiritual-cultural energy and inimitative atmosphere", A. Yessimov said. This year Almaty marks its 155th anniversary. However, according to modern archeologists the history of Almaty covers around 2, 000 years.

This year the Day of Almaty City will be celebrated on September 20. Various festive events dedicated to the event will be held during a month. The citizens and guests will enjoy an evening of kuys, a youth festival, festivals of films and songs about Almaty and "Almaty-my first love" retro-festival. Earlier the Day of Almaty city was marked on the first Sunday of October. In June 2009 at the XIX session of the municipal maslikhat the authorities decided to announce third Sunday of September the Day of the City, since sometimes this holiday coincided with the Day of Older Persons and Teacher's Day.

First military parade, devoted to the Constitution Day with participation of Kazakh President - Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev will be held tomorrow at "Kazak Yeli" square. Kazakh Defense Minister Adilbek Dzhaksybekov will review the troops. Deputy Defense Minister of Kazakhstan Major General Nurlan Dzhulamanov will be in charge of the parade. Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, Armed Forces and the military-diplomatic corpses accredited in Kazakhstan are invited to the parade.

The Dakar Series continues this year with the new Silk Road Rally that will pass through Kazakhstan in early September. The Rally will start in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan (part of the Russian Federation), cross Zhanaozen in Kazakhstan and end in Ashkhabad, the capital of Turkmenistan. The circuit is the historic trade route between Europe and Asia known as the Silk Road and is over 4000-KM in length. Representatives of 31 countries will participate, including racers from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, USA, Brazil, Chile and Great Britain. The Rally will be the largest off-road rally in Eurasia since the main Dakar route moved to South America in 2009 – and will be for cars and trucks only.

Military men of Priozersk military reservation got keys from 48 well-furnished flats after capital repair. Mayor of Priozersk N.Bikirov, Chairman of the Maslikhat Y.Omarov and post Commander, Colonel N.Misyura took part in the ceremony. Sabit Dossanov, the famous Kazakh writer, laureate of the International Sholokhov Prize, academician of the Russian Academy of literature, pedagogical and social sciences, was awarded the Gavriil Derzhavin order for contribution to literature, humanistic direction of writings and public activity. Awarding took place at the end of last week in the Writers’ Union of Russia, Moscow.
The major Russian writers highly appreciated the contribution of S.Dossanov to the world literature and heartily congratulated brother of the quill.

Today Holy Ramadan begins- a month of mercy and generosity. According to the established tradition, at the eve of this important and period the Supreme mufti of the country Absattar kaji Derbisali addressed the Muslims of Kazakhstan.
He reminded that during this period all the Muslims of the world will observe the Ramadan fast – restrain from food, drink and sensual pleasures from dawn to dusk. A fast is the third dogma of Islam and is compulsory for all full-aged men and women. Moreover it has been proven by medicine that it is healthy for the body. It not only strengthens the body but also perfects the soul of the person, making him or her kinder, more generous and patient.
The Supreme mufti congratulated all the Muslims of the country with the beginning of Ramadan and wished all the People of Kazakhstan peace, unity and prosperity.

On August 9th campaign “Capital of Kazakhstan Astana – 10 years of peace and harmony” will take place in Almaty.
Objective of the event – promotion and explanation of the “Strategy of Development of Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan before 2012”. Directors of the Armenian centers and leaders of Armenian youth national cultural centers from all regions of Kazakhstan will participate in the campaign. A contest for 3 nominations will take place where the jury will choose the best youth leader, best teacher of Sunday school and best choreographer.
Around 15,000 Armenians live in Kazakhstan today. In 1991 the first Armenian National Cultural Centre “Luys” was organized in Almaty.

Astana and state language: symbols of the country international conference has started at the K. Baiseitova opera and ballet theatre today.
Foreign scientists from Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, the USA, Turkey and South Korea alongside with senior state officials participated in the conference. The conference is notable for that all reports are in Kazakh language. In addition, the event was unofficially called the first international congress of the Kazakh language researchers.
According to the management staff, the conference eyes on raising Kazakhstan’s reputation and show prosperity of Astana as a political and cultural centre of the country.
Taking the floor, Darkhan Mynbay, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information noted that the state takes all necessary measures to strengthen the state language status. “As you know, in the end of last year the President issued the decree “On amendments to State language development program for 2001-2010”.

On July 6th, Astana celebrated its 10th anniversary. The city's designation as capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan initiated one of the most ambitious urban development project of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
The singular vision of President Nursultan Nazarbayev's urban plans were realised by the late Kisho Kurokawa. Important individual projects were awarded to such world-renowned architects as Norman Foster and Manfredi Nicoletti.
The celebrations marking the anniversary begun on the 28th of June with 'The Star of Astana' (a competition of songs about the capital) and culminate with lavish spectacles like 'From Astana with Love' which took place in the square in front of the Presidential Palace, 'Ak Orda'. Over 1,000 musicians, dancers, artists, gymnasts and technicians ensured that this show was a fitting tribute to a city which has only just started to make an impression on the world stage.

Almaty will celebrate the State Symbols Day on June 4. Celebratory activities will be organized by Almaty akimat, State Fund of Youth Policy Development, Kazakh Youth Congress and Students’ Alliance. The celebration will start with a motor rally followed by a grand festival with the participation of Kazakhstan’s singers. According to the organizers, a purpose of this holiday is to educate patriotism in the younger generation of Kazakhstan.

Today the Kazakhstanis celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the Great Victory. President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev will meet with the Great Patriotic War veterans and take part in a ceremony of laying wreath to the eternal light of the Motherland Defenders’ Monument in Astana.
As is known, more than 20 million Soviet citizens including 1.5 million Kazakhstanis gave life for the country.
Today Almaty and Astana will fire salutes. A ceremony of laying flowers to the eternal flame will also take place in Almaty.

“The Easter symbolizes the victory of life over death, of good over evil. Relying on such eternal human values as love thy neighbor as thyself, tolerance to each other, preservation of international and interethnic consent, the country’s stability, we make every thing possible for so many years to have our economy and the life of our people improved. Our striving is to rank among the most developed states in the world, and make people lives better. To that end we should preserve kind relations and consent in the country,” President said.
President Nazarbayev congratulated the Christians and expressed gratitude to the Orthodox Church, Right Reverend Methodius, and all those serving in the church for they do good, sow belief and work at mutual understanding for the prosperity of our vast and common Motherland, Kazakhstan.

Exhibition “Stealing Beauty” by a well-known Kazakhstani-Israeli artist Yuri Funkorineo at the “Art Gallery” Club sparked keen interest among art critics of Almaty city.
“I was born in Russia but in recent years I have been working in Israel. But I consider myself the Kazakhstani artist because my talent blossomed here and I visit Almaty as often as I can,” Y. Funkorineo said. He stressed that he drew inspiration and new ideas from each visit.
Yuri Funkorineo took part in many exhibitions. One can find his paintings in museums and private collections in Kazakhstan, Russia, Germany, Canada, the US and Israel.
The exhibition is due to last till April 17.

Kazakh National Academy of Music was founded on March 31, 1998 on the initiative of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. Famous violinist Aiman Mussakhodzhayeva is the rector of the academy.

“Kazakhstan TV channel is able to develop the state language and enhance international consent,” President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said while making a speech at the celebratory evening devoted to the 50th anniversary of the channel.
“The newscasters and journalists of the Kazakh television were nationally known in the past. Currently the channel is able to broadcast in Kazakhstan and neighboring states as well. I wish the channel’s stuff further success and recognition of the TV audience,” the Head of the State stated.

Renowned Kazakh violinist Marat Bisengaliev has finished in August 2006 the task of setting up the first ever professional Symphonic Orchestra of India (SOI) in Mumbai.
Funded completely by the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA), Mr. Bisengaliev has been given a carte blanche to make the orchestra up to truly world-class standard in India. According to the Kazakh musician, "India is an emerging great power and the forces of globalization have made the people increasingly aware of classical music. I think the time is ripe for Western classical music to make inroads into India".

The 10th Central Asian International World Food Kazakhstan Expo 2007 will take place at Atakent exhibition complex in Almaty on October 30.
The work of the exhibition will be divided into the following sections: meat and poultry; fish and seafood; dairy products; ice cream; confectionery and bakery products; grocery; fruits and vegetables, canned goods; frozen goods; baby and dietic food; tea and coffee; alcoholic and soft drinks.
Within the framework of the meeting the visitors and guests of the event will get an opportunity to taste the food and drinks of the companies participating in the exhibition. During the remaining period, the church requires temperance in meals, which means abstaining from meat, eggs and dairy products. As part of the custom, seeing off winter on the last day of Maslenitsa was marked according to the old Slavic tradition last Sunday.

The oldest in the republic Wedding Palace “Zhas Otau” celebrated its 35th jubilee. The building of round form appeared in Almaty in 1971. It symbolizes the wedding ring. Architect of the project is Maldagar Mendygulov. Gulnar Seitkanova was the first director of the palace. The 100 000th couple was registered on jubilee day – Almaz and Saltanat. A board sitting of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport has taken place in Astana. The head of government said that the development of children’s, and juvenile, sport should be a priority-driven task of the Ministry. The implementation of tourist projects in three districts – Kapshagai, the Schuchinsk-Borovoye resort zone and the Mangistau region. The Ministry was given the strategic task of creating a tourism cluster and making Kazakhstan the most attractive country for international tourism in the Central Asian region by 2010.

Special transportation profit to railway Astana from Moscow. The Children of the railway mans returned from the Kremlin New Year celebration. This - a first action to national company "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" for their own employees. The Children spent 3 days in Moscow. The Children from all Russian region, Kazakhstan and Ukraine was going to Kremlin New Year party. All children very pleased with trip. They participated in the other competitions and were conquered first place in "Youth competition". Also, the children visitted the Galley Tretyakovskaya and saw the famous picture, visitted good heard museum and churches, cathedral Uspensky and museum-house of Leo Tolstoi.
