Ridder Kazakhstan city history

The settlement of Ridder was founded in 1786. The settlement was named after officer Philip Ridder who discovered the first deposits of ore in the area. The first mine was also named after him - Ridder mine. The settlement received town status in 1934. From 1941 to 2002 the city had the name Leninogorsk. Ridder city is the final point of European route E40 beginning at Calais, France.
