Sue asks: Can you tell me anything about the clock tower in Kostanay? I'm researching it for a project.
Expert's answer:
Not much information is available. Kostanay Clock Tower is located in the center of the city. It was built in the 1980s, between two residential buildings, as an architectural insert. The author of the tower project was the architect Joseph I. Iskakov. Despite the fact that the clock tower has never been an architectural monument, it is considered one of the main buildings of Kostanay. From the time of construction, the tower clock has been perceived as a kind of symbol of the city. Today, in the building of the clock tower, there is a cafe-pizzeria and a small chess club. Also it is a popular meeting place.
