A 40-year-old Russian pilot was killed in a helicopter crash in southern Kazakhstan.
The AO Sky Service helicopter was on a domestic flight from Kordai to Balkhash on Sunday when it crashed into the side of a mountain in fog.
The emergency ministry statement said "the pilot died at the scene."
A passenger in the helicopter, a 39-year-old man from Kyrgyzstan, was reported to have received medical treatment before being sent home.

Twelve people died after a truck smashed into a minibus in the Central Asian Republic of Kazakhstan, the republic's emergencies ministry said on Sunday.
The road accident occurred early on Saturday on the highway between Almaty and Ust Kamenogorosk in the east of the republic. All the eleven passengers and the driver of the Mercedes minibus died at the scene of the tragedy while the truck driver was taken to hospital with numerous injuries, the emergencies ministry said.

A tourist bus headed from Issyk-Kul to Almaty got in a crash at 00.35 today. Kazakh tourists were among the passengers. 10 of them died. Minister of Emergency Vladimir Bozhko has told at a telephone conference in the Government. According to the Minister, at present 23 people are in the Tokmok hospital, 7 are in the Shu district hospitals. 8 died at the very place of accident, 2 - on the way to the hospital.
As Mr. Bozhko said, a group of experts of Zhambyl oblast emergency department and Almaty Catastrophes Center went to the scene of the accident for fact - finding.

A 10-year-old boy drowned in the River Ishim in the capital of Kazakhstan.
The accident occurred on 31 March, 2008. The water rescue service found the body of the little boy only a week hence on April 7.

Twenty-seven people, including 14 children, have been hospitalized after inhaling combustion products in an apartment building fire in Kazakhstan's capital.
The fire broke out in a 23-storey apartment building early on Sunday after an electric cable went ablaze. A total of 126 people have been evacuated. Six people, including two children, are in an intensive care unit, the emergencies ministry said.
The fire was extinguished in an hour and a half. A total of 43 people have sought medical help.

Eight road traffic accidents were registered in Astana last week. As a result two people died and two got injuries, the Astana road police department reports. On February 29 two cars collided on the Kokshetau highway. A driver and a passenger died straight away.

The Kazakh Emergencies Ministry’s helicopter crashed in the Southern Kazakhstan region on Thursday while surveying areas affected by sever floods and situation at the River Syrdarya.
According to preliminary data, four people died right away. Fourteen other people were taken to a local hospital.
The cause of the accident will be determined by the special commission of the Kazakh Emergencies Ministry headed by Vice Minister Valery Petrov and experts of the other ministries.

Emergency Minister of Kazakhstan Vladimir Bozhko has made it public at today's Governmental session.
As reported earlier, the methane explosion at lava 32K-10C has occurred at the Abaiskaya mine at 9.20 a.m. on January 11. As a result of the explosion, 30 miners died and 14 persons got injuries.

Two people have died of gas-poisoning in Kostanai region.
A 72-year-old man got gas-poisoning due to misuse of gas equipment at one of the private houses in Tobol settlement. A 41-year-old woman died in a similar accident.

Mazda car and a Mersedes car have collided tonight in the Auezov district of the city. As a result, the Mazda driver has died right away and his 25-year-old passenger has been taken to a hospital.
Earlier, in the Bostandyksk district of Almaty a driver lost control of a Toyota car and ran over a 70-year-old man, who died on the spot.
A 22-year-old girl was also crushed to death by a Nissan car in Almalinsk district of the city.

Five died as a result of road accident. KamAZ truck and Moskvich-412 car collided on Friday in Kostanai oblast claiming the lives of the four passengers and the bus driver straight away, the Kazakh Emergency Ministry's press service informs.

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev came to Moscow in order to participate in the state funeral of former Russian President Boris Yeltsin. 25th of April was declared a day of national mourning. The first president of the post-Soviet Russia Boris Yeltsin died from heart failure on Monday, aged 76.

Due to misuse of gas equipment 5 people were asphyxiated by gas and taken to the local hospital yesterday in Medeu district of Almaty city, Kazinform has learnt from the press service of the Emergency Ministry.

A MIG-31B air force interceptor, belonging to the Kazakhstan Ministry of Defence crashed near the city of Karaganda. Both crew members died. Specially formed commission is now investigating the cause of the crash, though neither the Ministry of Defence nor representatives of the joint chiefs of staff have so far made any comments and the press is banned from the scene. However, it is known that the accident happened on the 16th of February at 21:08 local time not far from Karaganda’s “Sary Arka” airport where one of the two military airbases in Kazakhstan is situated and which contain MIG-31B interceptors.

An Uzbekistan MI-24 helicopter has crashed on the Kazakh-Uzbek border after hitting the side of a hill. The crash took place on the 7th of February in the afternoon not far from the village of Kakpak Kazygur in the South Kazakhstan region. The regional Emergency Situations Department reported that the helicopter fell on the border demarcation strip between the two states, with debris scattered in both countries. 2 people were catapulted to safety but pilot Maksim Otrichenko died at the scene. Law enforcement officials have yet to comment.
