Almaty, the ex-capital of Kazakhstan, is situated in the southeastern part of Kazakhstan at the foot of Zailiski Ala-Tau mountain system at an elevation of 2,300-3,000 feet (700-900 meters).

Astana is the new capital city of Kazakhstan (from December 10, 1997), the second largest city of the country after Almaty. The photos were captured by Stepanov Slava (all the pictures are clickable).
