The mausoleum on the grave of the poet and preacher Khoja Ahmed Yasawi is located in the city of Turkestan in South Kazakhstan region. It is the central object of the historical and cultural museum-reserve “Azret Sultan.”

The mausoleum was built on the burial site of the Sufi poet Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, who had great authority among Muslims in the region and had an impact on Islam in Central Asia. The photos were taken by Ilia Afanasieff.

The Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi is a mausoleum on the grave of poet and preacher Khoja Ahmed Yasawi located in the town of Turkestan in South Kazakhstan region.

Nomads – Eternal Wanderers

In this short movie you can see some fragments of the Kazakh national game “Kokpar”. It was the training of mounted warriors that helped to improve fighting skills in a real fight.

The shooting took place in southern Kazakhstan, near the cities of Turkestan and Sauran. The latter was destroyed in the 14th century by the armies of Genghis Khan and Kokands. Sauran was the largest center of its time, with the water supply system, paved streets, architecture.

Khodzha Akhmed Yasavi Mausoleum

Khodzha Akhmed Yasavi Mausoleum was built in Turkestan in 1396-1399 on the orders of emir Timur by Persian masters. The mausoleum is a masterpiece of Central Asian architecture representing the architectural heritage of past centuries. In June 2003, the Mausoleum received the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site.
