Semey (former Semipalatinsk, renamed in 2007) is a city of East Kazakhstan oblast standing on Irtysh river banks. Semey is one the most ancient cities of Kazakhstan.
There are a lot of objects in the city which refer to architectural and historical monuments as well as a lot of statues to outstanding personalities linked with the city. Photos by lord_fame.

Hello,
I’m planning to visit Semey next spring and need some advice on how to get there from Astana. Could you share details on booking trains, buses, travel times, and the best places to stay and eat?
I’ve checked usual platforms, but haven’t found satisfactory options. It seems there are no internal flights from Astana or Almaty, and I’ve been unable to book a train ticket.
Thanks for your help!
