Tien-Shan Astronomical Observatory

Tien-Shan Astronomical Observatory was founded in the mountains of Trans-Ili Alatau near Big Almay Lake, about 30 km south of Almaty, in 1957.
The height of the plateau on which this scientific object is located is 2,735 meters above sea level. Today, it is part of the National Center for Space Research and Technology of Kazakhstan.

Maloulbinskoe reservoir, located about 20 km to the south-east of Ridder city (East Kazakhstan region), was built by prisoners of war and convicts in 1938.

Touchdown of Soyuz vehicle in the Kazakhstan steppes

Three days ago, on July 1, landing vehicle of “Soyuz TMA-03M” spacecraft successfully landed in the steppes in Karaganda region of Kazakhstan.
The capsule was carrying three people: Russian Oleg Kononenko, Dutchman Andre Kuipers, and American Don Pettit. The crew spent over 6 months on orbit.

The new railway station will be built in south-eastern part of Astana, on the continuation of one of the main streets of the city – G.Mustafin Street. This street leads to the most significant buildings of the new Kazakhstan capital.

The launch of the rocket Soyuz-U from Baikonur

Space rocket “Soyuz-U” with a cargo spacecraft “Progress M-10M” was successfully launched at 17 hours 05 minutes 21 seconds, April 27, 2011 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome (Baikonur city, Kazakhstan). The launch mass of the spacecraft was 7290 kg. There was more than 2,6 tones of cargo on board of the Progress M-10M, including fuel, water, containers with food rations, fresh food, medical equipment, parcels for the ISS crew, equipment for scientific experiments.

Kazakhstan anti-terrorist unit tactical exercise

According to the agenda the mission is to free the hostages (in the bus) and to neutralize the terrorists. But something goes wrong and I am not sure what is better to be “saved” in the following style or to be the hostage.
But the commentator on the first video says without any doubt that the operation has been successful, all the hostages has been freed.
