Beautiful landscapes of Western Kazakhstan

The following nice photos were taken in Mangystau oblast near the cities of Aktau and Beyneu. Unfortunately the author of the photos is unknown.

I live in Aktau since Sept 2009. I was wondering that most people here in Aktau cannot tell you anything about the province of Mangystau and its sight-seeings. So I did travelling on weekend by myself with some friends. And I can confirm that – beside it is not green (and I’m missing the green!)you will find such nice landscapes as to be seen on the photos. Nature here is really interesting! And some historical “monuments”, e.g. underground mosques, are even more interesting, especially when you are finding them by yourself. But you need of course a 4W-Drive.
Midst of 2009 I travelled from Germany here to Aktau and from here East-South (Uzbekistan)- Northeast up to Almaty and North via Astana through South-Russia and Ukraine (all West) back: 16.000 km in 33 days. It was a wonderful adventure! Do it and do not sit at home and only dreaming to do it! I’m 67 and still young enough for more adventure.
